Johari Window

Based on public eye

After analysing myself with the public using Johari Window, it shows that only a few traits are identified. It is not a surprise as the public view is showing the first impression. Some traits can be mistaken through facial reactions, behaviour, posture, appearance and many more. Also, different gender may look at different traits differently. For example, a male person may notice more of the interaction and a female may notice more on the appearance first. All of this will change the perception of other people on me. Some of the traits are hard to be determine in such a short period of time, unless specifically discussing the topic. However, based on what others perceive me as, I am quite happy with the result. Even though some of these traits are the total opposite, it good to have them in the public eye. People do not like to be judge by others, therefore making some traits not to be chosen in order to not offend them. Therefore the public eye may not be accurate.

Based on closed friend

Closed friend knows more about me as there are more interactions between one another. Many of the traits that I identified are mostly similar with a few exception. Everything is based on perception. Some may think an act of giving is contributing to the society, the others may think an act of giving is giving gifts for people you are closed with. As mention above, Everyone has different perception and opinion. Therefore I am not surprised that the public area has many similar traits and some different opinions. This shows that my closed do know me well. They are also able to identify some of the positive traits that I never knew I have. It is a good sign for me as it gives me insight of what I am and what I could be. However, there may be misunderstanding that may give wrong impression. This analysis helps to identify those traits and ask my friend what makes him/her thinks that way. It will prevent miscommunication and allow people to identify myself more.

In conclusion

Doing the Johari Window realize how much people that are around actually know me. In team work, knowing each others’ characteristic is important so that we are able to identify our strength and weakness. Traits such as confident, helpful are important as it benefit teamwork and presentation. For the unknown areas, I may not have these traits but it is possible that I have never encounter that thinks of me that way.
